  • Speed Awareness Messaging Unit December 2023

    The SAM2 unit was on Holt Road near Crossways during November and December monitoring traffic speed and the volume of vehicles travelling from Fakenham towards Holt.

    From 20 November 2023 – 8 January 2024

    Total vehicles 290,234

    An average of 5,818 vehicles were recorded coming into the village per day

    The peak times of travel were 8 am to 9 am (average of 409 vehicles); and 12 pm to 1 pm (average of 546 vehicles)

    The maximum speed was 85 mph at 1:45 am on 26 December.

    The majority of vehicles were travelling below the speed limit which is 40 mph. The 85th percentile speed (i.e. of 246,699 vehicles) was 40.3 mph; and the average speed was 33.6 mph.
